  • Description

The Barrels was a wonderful American diner that served breakfast and lunch in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan. Owned by William B Snyder, its cheerful waitresses served generations of hungry diners for many decades. This 1930s menu listed home-cooked dishes and hamburgers were prepared fresh every hour using a meat grinder. The menu's wonderful graphics and illustrations were truly evocative of the era. Look closely and see the care and effort taken by the artist. But can you also spot the misspelled word? Like many American diners, The Barrels was a casualty of modern tastes and has now closed.
