The Barrels was a wonderful American diner that served breakfasts and lunches in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan. Owned by William B Snyder, its cheerful waitresses served generations of hungry diners for many decades. This 1930s menu listing home-cooked dishes – hamburgers were prepared fresh every hour using a meat-grinder - has wonderful graphics and illustrations, evocative of the era. Look closely and see the care and effort taken by the artist – but can you also spot the mis-spelled word? Like many American diners, The Barrels was a casualty of modern tastes and has now closed
